Piedra Playa Spot in El Cotillo: Fuerteventura's Premier Spot for Surfing, Kitesurfing, Windsurfing, and Wing-foiling!
Piedra Playa Surf Spot is a beautiful wild beach located at 500mt. south of the El Cotillo northwest of Fuerteventura. It is characterized by a large cliff and is divided into 4 areas: the first and fourth beach are dedicated to surfing, the second to kitsurfing and the third to windsurfing. It’s also possible to wing-foil when the beach-break isn’t too strong.
The best season is summer and spring, when the swells are less strong. During the winter the swells can become extreme with powerful and fast tubular waves crashing on the shoreline.
Piedra Playa Spot boasts diverse surfable peaks with both right and left-hand breaks. This spot is ideal for experts surfers during big swells, but also accommodates intermediate surfers when the waves are more moderate. Surf schools often bring beginners surfers to this location to practice riding the white water and master the take-off.
The wind is mainly from the north and north-east and near the coast it is gusty with even shady areas. Caution is advised when entering the water, especially during powerful beach breaks.
